We are absolutely delighted that our plans for the regeneration of Silverthorne Lane have been unanimously approved by councillors on Bristol City Council's Development Control Committee.
The decision of councillors means that they have given us the green light to get on with the delivery of this exciting project for Bristol.
We are very grateful for the support and positive engagement of a wide range of stakeholders throughout the lengthy planning process for this complex site. Particular thanks to the parents and young people of communities in east central Bristol for whom the delivery of Oasis Academy Temple Quarter is so important. We know it has been a long wait, and the new school will provide state-of-the-art facilities for young people at the heart of a vibrant new canal-side community that our plans will create.
Alongside the new school, we are very excited at the prospect of being able to deliver new homes at the gateway to the city, including affordable homes, as well as fantastic new employment opportunities, a new flexible office building for the University of Bristol, and student accommodation. All of this will be set within extensive areas of public open space on a site that has been inaccessible to the public for generations, with a 300% increase in planting across the development, and new walking and cycling routes including a new canal-side walk.
We look forward to breathing new life into this former industrial site at the gateway to the city. We will keep you informed as the development progresses, so please do keep an eye on the website for news and updates.
